Dot product

Cross product and dot product are the two most popular Engineering Mechanics interview topics. In simple terms, the dotproduct of two vectors that are magnitude unity produces a product which is magnitude unity and opposite in direction. For illustration, the cosine functions of 45 deg can be used. This law applies also to dot products. Additionally, the product of two vectors having equal unit magnitude will equal one.

Cross-product

The cross product is an important concept in mechanical engineering. A cross product of two vectors with magnitude equal to unity gives a product with the same magnitude and direction. The cosine functions of 45 degrees determine the magnitude factor. The interviewer will want to see if the candidate has a good understanding of the market and customers' preferences. This question is also used to assess the candidate's design and product creation skills. Cross product mechanics questions can be confusing.

Lami’s theorem

If you are asked to explain how forces are applied for an object moving in straight lines, you will need to understand that a force equals its magnitude multiplied by its direction. Lami's theory can be applied to objects that move in straight lines. Lami's theorem is a fundamental principle in mechanics that describes the relationship between forces.

How to become an automotive technician

A technician who works on vehicles is an automotive technician. He/she works at automotive shops, garages or service centers. He/she repairs cars, trucks, motorbikes and snowmobiles for customers. An automotive technician must have the ability to quickly diagnose and fix problems.

A person who wants to work as an automotive technician should first obtain an associate degree from a vocational school. After completing this program, he/she will need to pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence's (ASE) certification exam. ASE stands to American Society of Mechanical Engineers. There are two sections to the ASE certification test. The first section tests your mechanical skills, while the second tests your practical knowledge. You will need to attend an authorized testing site in order to pass the test. These testing sites can be found online and through your local dealer.

Before becoming an automotive technician, a candidate must pass the test. This process is different depending on where you live. Some states require candidates to complete a training program, while others let them study on their own. Some states require technicians to be licensed immediately upon receiving their license. Other states wait until they have been employed as automotive technicians for at least six month.

To get started as an automotive technician, a person should apply to a local automotive dealership. New employees are usually apprentices when they first get hired. Apprenticeship programs usually last three years. This is when a student can learn how to do basic repairs such as changing oil, adjusting brakes and replacing tires. Some students are taught how to repair engines and replace transmission fluids. Many schools offer classes during regular hours. However, some schools offer evening classes if needed.

After completing an apprenticeship, a student becomes a journeyman. Journeymen typically spend four to five years learning how to install major systems, such as transmissions, differentials, steering gear, suspensions, and drive shafts. You will also learn how to repair complicated electrical components, as well as how to remanufacture engines and rebuild transmissions. Because they have a good understanding of the job and what customers expect, many employers prefer to hire journeymen.

Candidates who pass the required exams are eligible for a license. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there were nearly 1.7 million jobs available for automotive mechanics in 2010.
